Upcoming project:
Benedicte Torget / Calligraphic voice
Benedicte Torget - vocal, improvisations,
text/composition, soundscapes
Vocalist Benedicte Torget presents her solo project. Through archaic songs, subtle orchestrations created by her voice, and a wide range of soundscapes, the singer stretches out a sonic canvas and creates narratives.
In her project, the acclaimed singer and composer uses experiences from her work with theatre and film and delves into existential themes such as trust, longing and transformation.
For decades Benedicte Torget has been inspired by calligraphy. In calligraphy, the lines, movements and signs themselves are inextricably linked to the content. Through an embodied language we find communication beyond words, Benedicte says.
Benedicte has practised breathing meditation according to calligrapher and teacher Shunryu Suzuki's method for more than 25 years.
In her music, Benedicte combines elements from jazz, pop, extended vocal technique and world/folk music.
